Being a florist means that you briefly come into people’s lives at joyous occasions and sad occasions. Today has been a day for both! This morning I set up the flowers at Sally and Bens wedding in Llanbedrog. The venue looked stunning basking in the glorious sunshine and the tables looked beautiful. Whilst delivering the bouquets I was taken into the hub of the family and welcomed like a friend, even being offered some sparkly (which I politely turned down as I was driving..and working!!).
Later this afternoon I started working on sympathy flowers for a gentleman who was greatly loved by many people and through the choices of tributes I saw a snippet of the life he lead.
I always feel it a privilege to be a part of someone’s life just for a small amount of time, to be allowed to see their joy or their pain, to share in their excitement or their sadness. When I am making up wedding designs I think of how much joy they will bring and how the beautiful flowers will add to the wedding day. When I am making up sympathy tributes every one is made with love and every flower placed in the design with great care.
This morning the shop was filled with wedding designs (pictured below) and this afternoon it started being filled with sympathy tributes. The joy and sadness of life but an aspect of floristry that I feel should be dealt with as if it were one of my own.
So Congratulations today to Sally and Ben and all the best for the future!!
